Handling Houses in Astrology

In starting to learn astrology, start simple. If you start with awe at the complexity that awaits you at every turn, you will be trapped in your fascination with the subject itself, rather than what the subject can do for you.

Predictive astrology,

Let's do an example. In predictive astrology, if you want to know what an individual's personal wealth is likely to turn out, just analyze his 2nd house. Accept this at face value to begin with. Wealth? Read the 2nd house. That's it. Don't worry about the more advanced approach. Now read it, and that's how you think it's going to be.

For instance, a Taurus ascendant person has Jupiter in the 2nd house, no planets aspecting that house, and the ruler of his 2nd house is placed in his 12th house. First, see and read the obvious.

Jupiter in the 2nd house. It's almost inevitable that this person will be strong in matters of money. He is also very likely to deal with a lot of financial activities. He is a 'money' person. For a Taurus person, Jupiter is ruler of the 8th and 11th houses. That Jupiter 'brings' the contributions of those houses into his 'money' house. The 8th house is about aid, assistance, inheritances, gifts, other people's wealth. The 11th house is profits, fulfillment of his wishes, gifts from friends. All these become channels to his financial development and personal wealth.

The occupancy of a house

The occupancy of a house always becomes more dominant in the individual's life, closely followed by the ruler's own placement. In this case, the ruler of his 2nd house is in the 12th house. 2nd house is money, and 12th house is losses. He will experience financial losses.

So in this case, it is safe to say reliably and astrologically, that during the subject's Jupiter 'periods', his finances will be on the rise, while during Mercury periods, his finances will suffer.

Seeming contradictions

Don't be afraid of seeming contradictions. In good astrology, there is no contradiction. Each nuance appears at different times in the individual's life, giving different 'textures' of experience pertaining to that same issue. In this way, talking about his 'finances', astrology therefore reveals at which times his finances will be on the rise, and when it will go down.

Problems only happen when astrologers adhere to the old idea of 'astrology can tell whether in this life, my finances will be okay or not'.

That method of judgment is a bad concept in tradition that simply doesn't exist in real life.

Get the story right

Finally, consider the various ways when those 'periods' can be 'triggered'. Let this be the last part of the work. But get the story right first.

See the up's and down's of all crucial issues, and determine how each planet contributes to the changing textures of that issue in the person's life.
