The moon affects the behavior of fish

Have you ever wondered how the moon relates to fishing? I assume, or you wouldn't be reading this article, right? The bottom line is that the moon does relate to fishing, and in this article I'm going to provide you with information as to exactly how. The moon doesn't relate so much to fishing as to the behavior of fish, and as we all know, the behavior of fish matters to us anglers.

Fish bite better when the moon is in certain phases

What? The behavior of fish has never mattered to you as an angler? Well, it should. It should if you want to catch more fish that is. Believe it or not, the moon has a very big impact on the behavior of fish. I realize this may sound strange, but what phase the moon is in affects the feeding behavior of the fish that your attempting to catch. In other words, fish bite better when the moon is in certain phases.

Moon phases and the behavior of fish

So what we want to know as anglers is which phases affect the behavior of fish, and then use this information to our advantage. This information isn't rocket science (although some people will have you believe it is) but it will involve a little bit of research.

Fish bite more during the full moon

For example, when the moon is in the full phase, fish are more active and tend to bite much more readily. If you don't believe me, test it.

The next time the moon is full (which you can find out by looking into the sky at night) go fishing and see how you do (as a matter of fact, right it down). Then, wait about 5 days and go fishing again (and write your results down). Compare the two and you'll see for yourself that fish bite better when the moon is full. Or you can take my word for it. Either way the results are the same, and you should start using this information to your advantage sooner, rather than later.

Plan fishing trips according to moon phases

The bottom line is that most of us have only so much time to spend on the water fishing. So we should use our time as wisely as we possibly can. This means planning our fishing excursions around what phase the moon is in so that the odds are that much more in our favor.

Is this a fail safe method to catching more fish? No, but again fishing when the moon is working for you, rather than against you makes your chances of hooking up that much better.

Don't ignore the moon

The bottom line is that the moon does relate to fishing and fish behavior, and familiarizing yourself with how only makes sense.

In other words, if you could be fishing when the fish are much more likely to be biting, why wouldn't you? To me, this only makes sense, and the answer is in understanding the moon, and it's affect on fishing and fish.
